Match, training & youth goalkeeper gloves
Most goalkeeper glove brands sell three tiers. The palm latex is what separates them: it sets the grip, the price and how many games a pair lasts. Here is how a typical private label range is specified.
| Tier | Palm latex | Palm | Cut | Backhand & closure | Finger-save |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Match | German contact or giga-grip type | 4 mm latex on about 3 mm foam ("4+3") | Negative or hybrid | Light knit or neoprene; strapless or slim strap | Optional; often left out for feel |
| Training | All-round German latex or harder standard latex | 3–4 mm latex | Flat, roll finger or hybrid | Latex or embossed backhand; wide wrap-around strap | Optional, often added |
| Youth | Soft, durable standard latex | 3 mm latex | Flat or roll finger | Padded latex backhand; wide hook-and-loop strap | Recommended, often removable |
Typical specifications for guidance only. Every element can be changed, and you approve the final specification and a physical sample before production.
Match gloves
Your flagship: the softest, grippiest latex, a snug negative or hybrid cut and a light backhand. Match latex wears fastest, so price it as a premium product and include a care card.
Training gloves
The volume glove for clubs and academies: a harder latex that survives artificial turf and daily sessions, and a padded backhand for punching.
Youth goalkeeper gloves
Sizes 4–7 for junior keepers, usually with finger-save spines, a wide easy strap and durable latex. Parents and coaches buy on comfort and durability, not on latex grade.
German latex or standard latex: choosing the palm
The palm decides almost all of a goalkeeper glove's grip and much of its cost. Buyers specify two things: the latex type and its thickness. Here are the trade-offs.
Palm latex grades buyers specify
| Latex type | Grip | Wear life | Best conditions | Use it for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| German contact-type latex | Highest, dry and damp | Shortest; wears fast on artificial turf | Grass, dry to damp | Match gloves, flagship models |
| German giga-grip or supersoft types | Very high, very soft "sticky" feel | Short to medium | Grass, dry to damp | Premium match gloves |
| Wet-weather (aqua-type) latex | High when damp | Medium | Rain and wet grass | UK and northern European ranges |
| Hard-ground latex | Medium | Long | Artificial turf, hard pitches | Training and small-sided gloves |
| Standard latex | Medium to lower | Long | All conditions, lighter use | Youth, entry-level retail, club bundles |
| Embossed or textured latex | Lower but predictable | Longest | Training on hard surfaces | Budget training and promotional gloves |
"German latex" is a trade term, not one material. It covers premium latex foams from German producers, each sold under its own grade names, and those names differ between suppliers. Specify by performance (grip, durability, conditions) and approve the feel on your sample. Tell us the grade you want and we'll confirm availability and the cost difference when we quote.
Palm thickness: 3 mm, 4 mm and "4+3"
| Palm | Feel | Cushioning | Wear life |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 mm latex | Closest ball feel, lighter glove | Lower | Shorter |
| 4 mm latex | Slightly less feel | Higher | Longer: more latex to wear through |
| 4+3 | Balanced | High | Long; a common senior match spec |
It usually means about 4 mm of latex laid over about 3 mm of foam, so roughly 7 mm of palm in total. The order isn't standardised, and some listings mean 3 mm of latex on 4 mm of foam. On your spec sheet we write each layer separately (latex mm, foam mm), so the factory and your customers read it the same way.
The softer and stickier the latex, the faster it wears, especially on 3G and 4G artificial pitches. If most of your customers play on artificial turf, a harder latex on the training glove will cut complaints and returns.
Goalkeeper glove cuts compared
The cut decides how the latex meets the ball and how tightly the glove fits. It also changes the number of pattern pieces and the amount of stitching, which affects the price per pair.
| Cut | How it's built | Fit | Latex contact | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flat palm (traditional) | One flat latex palm, with gussets (side strips) between the fingers and seams on the outside | Roomier; suits wider hands | Good on the palm, less on the finger sides | Entry-level, training and youth gloves |
| Negative cut | Palm and finger panels joined with the seams on the inside of the glove | Tightest, close "second skin" fit | Good; slightly less latex at the finger edges | Match gloves for keepers who want control and feel |
| Roll finger | Latex wraps around each finger and is stitched to the backhand, with no gussets | Snug; fingers feel a little fuller | Largest contact area on the fingers | Catching and shot-stopping models |
| Hybrid | Combines cuts, for example negative-cut middle fingers with roll index and little fingers, or a negative palm with roll fingertips | Snug | High | Mid- and top-tier match gloves, signature models |
How the cut affects price
More pattern pieces and inside seams take longer to sew. A negative or hybrid glove usually costs more than a flat-palm glove with the same latex. A simple launch range is one negative or hybrid match glove plus a flat or roll-finger training glove.
Match a reference glove
Send a glove whose fit you like, or photos with measurements, and we'll reproduce the cut and fit for your sample. We copy construction and fit, never another brand's logos, trademarks or protected designs.
Finger protection, backhand & closure
These three choices change the glove's weight, support and look. They're also where most brands add their own identity.
Finger-save spines
Flexible plastic stiffeners along the back of the fingers. They bend forward so the hand can close, but are designed to limit bending backwards.
- Fixed (sewn in) or removable (in sleeves)
- All fingers, or selected fingers only
- Popular on youth and training gloves
Many senior keepers prefer gloves without spines for feel. Finger-save is a support feature, not certified protective equipment.
Backhand materials
- Latex or embossed latex: grip for punching, classic look
- Neoprene or stretch fabric: light and flexible
- Knitted textile: sock-like fit, often strapless
- Mesh panels: ventilation for hot climates
- Extra foam over the knuckles: for punching clear
The backhand material can change the glove's HS code and US duty. See import duty.
Closure & strap
- Wrap-around hook-and-loop strap: classic and adjustable
- Bandage-style elastic strap: a snug, wrapped wrist
- Strapless knitted cuff: slip-on, minimal feel
- Short or long cuff, with your logo on the strap or cuff
Wide straps are easiest for young players to put on alone.
Glove sizes: youth 4–7, adult 8–11
Goalkeeper glove sizes are not standardised between brands, so a size 9 from one label can fit like a 10 from another. We grade the pattern to your size chart, or to a reference glove, and you check the grading on the sample set.
Need size 12 or half sizes? Tell us in your brief and we'll confirm feasibility.
| Size | Typical wearer (rough guide) |
|---|---|
| 4–5 | Young children |
| 6–7 | Older juniors |
| 8–9 | Teenagers and smaller adult hands |
| 10–11 | Most adult keepers |
Private label goalkeeper gloves: your brand, your box
As an OEM goalkeeper gloves manufacturer we make your design, not ours. The finished glove and its packaging carry your brand only.
- Custom colours: latex, backhand, strap and cuff colours matched to your palette and approved on the sample.
- Sublimation printing: full-colour graphics and patterns on fabric and knit backhands.
- Logos on backhand, strap and cuff: tell us the effect you want, such as a printed, embossed or raised rubber logo, and we'll confirm feasibility and any tooling cost.
- Custom design: new panel shapes, cuts and colourways developed into a physical sample.
- Custom packaging: glove hangers, polybags, header cards, retail boxes, size stickers and barcode labels. Share any marketplace packaging rules at the brief stage.
- Inserts: latex care cards and size charts printed with your brand.
Latex lasts longer when keepers rinse the palms in lukewarm water, dry them away from heat and sunlight, and store them with the palms apart. Customers who do that get more games from each pair and are less likely to blame the glove for early wear.

HS code & import duty for goalkeeper gloves
Gloves are excluded from the sports-equipment chapter of the tariff (Chapter 95), so goalkeeper gloves are classified by what they're made of. In the US, that choice is worth more than 11 percentage points of duty.
| Glove construction | HS code | USA | UK (from Pakistan) | EU (from Pakistan) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rubber-based: latex foam palm on a latex or rubber body, textile-backed | 4015.19 (US 4015.19.5100) | 14% + 10% Section 301 = 24% | 0% under DCTS (normally 2%) | 0% under GSP+ |
| Knitted textile: knitted glove coated or covered with latex, such as a knit body with a laminated latex palm | 6116.10 (US 6116.10.0800) | 2.8% + 10% Section 301 = 12.8% | 0% under DCTS (normally 8%) | 0% under GSP+ |
Rates as of 10 October 2026, from the USITC HTS and the UK Trade Tariff. The extra 10% US duty applies to Pakistan-origin goods entered on or after 24 July 2026 under Section 301 (HTSUS 9903.05.62, CBP CSMS #69326983); a court challenge is pending. An older CBP ruling, NY 086098, placed goalkeeper gloves of textile-backed cellular rubber in 4015.19. Rulings bind only the goods they describe. UK and EU rates need valid proof of Pakistani origin.
On every $10,000 of gloves entered into the US, 24% duty is $2,400 and 12.8% is $1,280: a difference of $1,120. Before you lock the design, ask your customs broker to review the construction, or apply for a binding ruling (US: CBP ruling under 19 CFR Part 177; UK: Advance Tariff Ruling; EU: Binding Tariff Information). We'll supply the material breakdown, photos and samples they need. Classification must follow the glove's real materials, so choose the construction for performance first and get the ruling to match.
Origin marking (US)
Each glove must be marked with its country of origin, for example "Made in Pakistan", legibly and permanently. We can add this to your labels.
Youth gloves in the US
Gloves designed or marketed mainly for children aged 12 and under are children's products under CPSIA, which means third-party testing and a Children's Product Certificate. Plan this before you order youth sizes.

What is the MOQ for private label goalkeeper gloves?
We confirm the MOQ per design when we quote, because it depends on the latex grade, the cut and how the branding is applied: a new embossed or raised logo can need its own tooling. Tell us your quantity per design and your size split in your enquiry. For context, Sialkot glove makers publicly quote anywhere from about 25 to 200 pairs per style.
How much do custom goalkeeper gloves cost?
Goalkeeper gloves are quoted per specification. The biggest price drivers are the palm latex grade, palm thickness, the cut (negative and hybrid take longer to sew than flat palm), finger-save spines, the backhand material, the logo method and the packaging. Send us your target retail price and we'll suggest a specification that fits it.
What is German latex, and do I need it?
"German latex" is the trade name for premium latex foams from German producers, sold in grades such as contact-type and giga-grip-type latex. They give the most grip but wear fastest. You need them for a credible match glove. For training, youth and budget gloves, a harder standard latex usually lasts longer and keeps the price down.
What does "4+3" mean on goalkeeper gloves?
It usually means about 4 mm of latex over about 3 mm of foam on the palm. Brands don't use one fixed order, so we write each layer separately on your spec sheet. Thinner palms give more feel; thicker palms give more cushioning and a longer life.
Which cut should I choose: flat, negative, roll finger or hybrid?
Negative or hybrid for a match glove where fit and control matter most. Roll finger for a catching-focused model with maximum latex on the fingers. Flat palm for budget, training and youth gloves, because it's roomier and simpler to make. A simple launch range is one negative or hybrid match glove and one flat or roll-finger training glove.
Do finger-save gloves prevent injuries?
Finger-save spines are designed to limit backward bending of the fingers, and many parents and coaches want them for young keepers. They are a support feature, not certified protective equipment, and they can't guarantee against injury. Market them accurately, and offer a version without spines for senior keepers who want more feel.
What sizes do you make?
Youth sizes 4–7 and adult sizes 8–11 are typical. Sizing isn't standardised between brands, so we grade the pattern to your size chart or a reference glove. For size 12 or half sizes, ask and we'll confirm feasibility.
Can you make American football receiver or lineman gloves?
This page covers football (soccer) goalkeeper gloves. For American football gloves, send us your specification and we'll confirm feasibility. Note that gloves for US high-school (NFHS) play must carry a permanent NOCSAE or SFIA seal at the wrist opening, and the NOCSAE standard limits palm tackiness, so certification has to be part of the project.
What import duty will I pay on goalkeeper gloves from Pakistan?
As of 10 October 2026: in the US, rubber-based gloves (4015.19) pay 14% and knitted, latex-coated gloves (6116.10) pay 2.8%, plus a 10% Section 301 duty on Pakistan-origin goods in both cases. The UK and EU charge 0% under DCTS and GSP+ with valid proof of origin. Confirm your exact classification with a customs broker or a binding ruling.
Can I get a sample, and how long does an order take?
Yes. We make a physical sample to your approved specification, and bulk production starts only after you approve it. Sample cost and timing are agreed at the specification stage. As a guide, glove samples in Sialkot typically take one to three weeks, and bulk production three to six weeks after approval, plus freight.
